In April 2024, we announced a landmark strategic joint venture with OCP Group to create a green energy hub in Morocco to supply green hydrogen, ammonia, and fertilisers to Morocco, Europe and the international markets.

Our new Advanced Manufacturing Center in Detroit, the former heart of the American car industry, will become a major hub for our production of the next generation of automotive and heavy industry batteries, fast chargers, and electrolyzers.

Our Colorado hub, which was announced in 2022, joined similar centers in Australia and the UK and illustrates our desire to be at the forefront of green energy and the associated technologies. Colorado was selected from a number of potential locations due to its world-leading research and development institutions, vibrant innovation ecosystem and quality of life which makes it an attractive destination for the best talent in the USA. 

Australia’s first fully automated electrolyser manufacturing facility is located in Gladstone, Central Queensland. The Gladstone Electrolyser Manufacturing (GEM) Centre, which includes the Gladstone Electrolyser Facility (GEF), is located within the Gladstone State development Area (SDA), one of 12 areas across the State planned and managed by the Coordinator-General which includes land owned by Economic Development Queensland.

The Hemnes Green Hydrogen Project is seeking to harness Norway’s hydroelectric capacity and establish the country as a powerhouse of this nascent sector and ultimately help decarbonise the country’s shipping industry.

Arizona Hydrogen is a groundbreaking venture into liquid green hydrogen production in the United States, leading the way in green energy solutions.

In a landmark collaboration, a consortium composed of Fortescue and Actis has secured exclusive rights to develop a major green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Oman. This partnership, announced in April 2024, positions Oman at the forefront of the global energy transition, showcasing the country’s commitment to sustainable development.

Jordan was among the first countries identified by Fortescue for its substantial green hydrogen potential, leading to the signing of a Framework Agreement at the end of 2021. This early collaboration underscored Jordan's abundant solar wind resources, perfectly positioned to be harnessed into renewable energy and, ultimately, converted into green hydrogen and ammonia.

Pioneering Green Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Projects in Egypt

The proposed Holmaneset Project will lead the way in green hydrogen and green ammonia production for Europe.

In Brazil, Fortescue intends to develop a green hydrogen project at the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém, Ceará. The project will have a production capacity of 168,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum (tpa) and will contribute to the decarbonization ambitions of Brazil and the world. Green hydrogen could be a vector for Brazil's green neo-industrialisation, working as the basis for a new production structure, which will also include segments such as mining and green steel, e-fuels and fertilizers, among others.

The Pampas Project is for the generation of green hydrogen and its derivatives in Patagonia Argentina. The proposed project integrates the entire industrial-productive value chain and seeks the integration and development of wind farms, electricity transmission lines, plants for the development of green hydrogen and other green products and port infrastructure. In this initial stage of the project, Fortescue is carrying out the Environmental and Social Impact Studies for its development.

The Gibson Island Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Project is a collaboration between Fortescue Energy (Fortescue) and Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) to convert and develop green hydrogen and green ammonia facilities at Gibson Island, an industrial area in Brisbane.
