Transforming Renewable Resources into a Sustainable Future
Jordan was among the first countries identified by Fortescue for its substantial green hydrogen potential, leading to the signing of a Framework Agreement at the end of 2021. This early collaboration underscored Jordan's abundant solar wind resources, perfectly positioned to be harnessed into renewable energy and, ultimately, converted into green hydrogen and ammonia.
The Framework Agreement grants Fortescue access to key locations for preliminary studies. These include 450 square kilometres earmarked for potential solar production, 1,000 square kilometres for wind energy, and 1.5 square kilometres within an industrial zone designated for downstream production facilities. Our goal is to produce approximately 800,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia, marking a significant step forward in Jordan's green energy journey.
Our partnership with Jordan holds the promise of positioning the nation as a leader in green energy technologies. The benefits of this collaboration extend beyond environmental gains; they also offer substantial economic and community value, both within Jordan and across the wider region.
Transforming Jordan’s green potential into tangible products will provide a significant boost, not only to the environment but also to the Kingdom's economy. As Jordan strives towards a greener future, we remain committed to this partnership, working closely with the government to develop regulatory frameworks, policies, and incentives that will maximise the country's renewable energy potential and help realise its green ambitions.

A Greener Future
This partnership with the Kingdom of Jordan is another great step towards lowering emissions and creating jobs.
The only way to stop global warming is through practical, implementable solutions and this partnership will play an important role in utilising the great potential for renewable energy in the Kingdom of Jordan.
