Fortescue's Landmark Moroccan Partnership

In April 2024, we announced a landmark strategic joint venture with OCP Group to create a green energy hub in Morocco to supply green hydrogen, ammonia, and fertilisers to Morocco, Europe and the international markets.

Our partnership with OCP Group Morocco focuses on four key areas:

  • Large-Scale Production Facility

    We aim to create a large-scale, integrated green ammonia and green fertiliser production facility. This will leverage Morocco’s rich renewable resources to produce sustainable products that are essential for global agriculture and energy markets.

  • Green Technology Manufacturing

    The partnership will also focus on manufacturing green technology and equipment, including electrolysers, which are crucial in the production of green hydrogen. This initiative will contribute to building the infrastructure needed to support a green economy.

  • R&D Technology Hub

    A state-of-the-art Research and Development and Technology Hub near Marrakech will support the joint venture and the broader ecosystem. This hub will be a centre for innovation, driving research in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and minerals processing.

  • Corporate Venture Capital Collaboration

    Fortescue and OCP will collaborate on corporate venture capital funds to drive investment in key technological advancements. This will ensure that both companies remain at the forefront of green technology and sustainability.

Our partnership with OCP Group, one of the world’s largest phosphate mining companies, presents a unique opportunity for Fortescue to advance its green energy ambitions across multiple sectors, including generation, production, manufacturing, and export.
